Default Maryland state inspection on a brand new bike from Virginia

So last Friday I picked up a 2010 Ninja 250r with 2 miles on the clock at a dealer in Leesburg but I live in Maryland. The dealers title clerk did all the paperwork for MD tags and I'm wondering if I still need to get a MD inspection since MD wont have any record on file.

I asked the sales guy and he was like "Umm I don't know"

Based on what you've said here, yes, you need to get the bike inspected to register it in MD.

BTW j4k3, the reason it's not a question everybody knows the answer to is vehicle-owner-end inspections are a bit of a rarity in MD. My dad has lived in MD since after college (hes 62 now), and just 2 years ago had to have a vehicle inspected for the first time in his life.

I was under the impression Maryland inspections were the same as ours, where it'd obviously be common sense that it has to be inspected.

Nope. There are no regular vehicle inspections in MD (and yet there aren't run down cars running amok everywhere and dangerous modification being made left and right...but here in VA they've decided they need to be a nanny state), only when the title changes hands there is a safety inspection, and if it's a vehicle that you bought at a dealer in-state you won't even know about this because the dealer takes care of it. So, if someone is like my dad and only buys vehicles from dealers, he could go his whole life without ever understanding why gas stations in MD have signs advertising inspection prices.

EDIT: I just realized OP said he has MD tags. If he already has the MD tags he should be ok, but I haven't experienced this precise situation before, so I don't know for sure.
