4x4 Off Topic Thread
Just a few suggestions from someone that has been tinkering with 4x4's for awhile. The higher you go, larger wheels you go the more it's going to cost to keep it a DD. Make friends with a welder. Either buy one or make friends with someone who can weld. Buy all your parts and not half ass throw something together, like lifting the rear and not the front.
Jump on www.pirate4x4.com and see what others are doing with the same type of vehicle you are. If you want better axles, manual tcase, etc sometimes its easier to find a junk vehicle and buy the whole thing so you have everything you need. If you want to rock 37's a d44/9 combo will be your cheapest route and hold up nicely to anything you'll throw at it. Throw in a 205 tcase and you have a nice rig.

bettre yet, im on a forum dedicated to explorers. my transfer case is electric with a manual shifter knob under the truck. id want a bg1354 manual to have it in the cab, but its not really any biggie to get one. im keeping my d35 ttb for now and lifting it. my 8.8 should be fine no problem. im not even thinking of 37s anymore. more then likely 32/33, a max of 35
brought the TJ home tonight. took the doors off.... drove around for a bit..... im in love
oh ps- just ordered 4 goodyear wrangler duratrac's. win

mine weigh a shitton, have to cut wires and add plugs for all the crap in the doors, and id need quick disconnect pins to put them back on :/
