My New Time Attack Car Build Thread
"Nobody" meaning it's not a needed modification for tracking/racing a car with a LSX... even with LT headers. Walk around the paddock and look at all the Corvettes at the track and you'll see they all have their coil-packs in the OEM location. The only people who relocated them or hide them are show car people who want to make the engine look like an engine.
As OCD as I am with my car, if it was something that would provide any benefit, then I'd do it. It requires custom wires (can't just carry spare OEM ones around) and in a Corvette there's no good place to put them that they're still easily accessible. Obviously in your case you have a nice place to put them and there's no real downside to it... just that you didn't need to do it.

The only downside is that it makes it more difficult to get a spare wire in a pinch... i.e. the OEM 6" wires won't work and that's what most guys carry around at the track.
Not intending to hassle... was curious why he decided to relocate vs. wiring directly to them in the OEM location. His concern was about heat, but that's been discussed ad nauseum on the Corvetteforum and over the years it's prooven to be a non-issue. Just passing that along so he knows he won't have to worry about it... especially with them relocated now.

Yes, you race corvettes. Yes, you might be very informative on the topic. BUT seriously get off the man's posts. I want to be able to come into this thread and see a build, pictures and updates from mike, not see you comment on every other post or state an alternative on what he should/shouldn't do.
Holy crap, Mike I cannot believe you are nearing "done" on this thing! I haven't had time to read every post in the past couple week but do you know when your grand firing of the motor will be?
It does not appear that Mike has a problem with it. Brian is just trying to help and prevent unnecessary spending. That's Brian, he has a tendency to look out for people, especially when it comes to something he has researched and worked on for nearly ten years now.

I made this thread just to share the progress of the build, I don't have a problem with anyone but I also don't feel like having a bunch of back and forth "this is why I did this" in this thread. I would rather do that through PM's. Its a forum though so I expect plenty of chatter. I do appreciate all the input and advice though as I'm not expert on these engines. Also I'm a mechanical engineer so I spend most of my day dealing with other peoples suggestions on how they would have done it, what they think it should look like, how they think it should work etc. So I'm used to it. No worries.
Thanks all for the positive comments
Should have some more updates very soon
I made the ones on the coils, the wire kit came with the ones on the wires. It looks pretty cool, I did it more for myself to help with hooking them up than anything though lol.
