Question VW Golf wont start when its humid/rainy out

Ok so I have had this Golf for several years now. Anytime there is a huge change in weather it refuses to start. the starter is fine and it will turn over for a second then cut out or not start at all. its just turn key-> starter going-> engine turning over but wont stay turned over.
if i leave it alone for a while and the weather dries up it starts right back up again. then i forget about the problem until it happens again, endless cycle of WTF.

so far right now i have unplugged the MAF, that didn't work
checked the air filter and its bone dry so its defiantly not hydro-locked
checked all the spark plug wires and made sure the connections where good
checked the coil pack and there was a small hairline crack in it and someone told me to spray it with WD-40 to dry it up then wait half and hr-> ill see what this does......

but can anyone suggest a permanent solution to this on going problem or give me anymore insight, im stumped

thank you
