if you are talking about the anti rattle clip on the top of the pad, its not supposed to go through the hole.

Thats what I was under the impression that he was referring to. However don't some of them clip on the outside of the caliper and sit in the holes?

someone has had the caliper off, maybe for a stud replacement or something. they are supposed to apply pressure against the caliper so the pads dont rattle around and cause a noise.

Yea they replaced all the studs when the turned my rotors....i heard one stud snap as he tryed to take my tire off......
