well.. you're supposed to replace the valve cover gasket everytime you take the valve cover off.. a lot of people don't know that.

420a's are known for their cooling problems and its normal for the head gaskets to go bad. but thats all ive heard as far as frequent probs. I have a 99 gs and im constantly having probs with the cooling. Oh and to chahonda, the only thing mopar about the 420a is the timing. and this is dragva, not drag guam. shut the fuck up.

I have had no head gasket problems.(problem they had mostly in 95/96 which they redesign of the gasket which fixed it) I had no tranny problems until way after doubling the horse power which caused the stage 4 six puck clutchmaster clutch explode in second gear.(no more sincro second still works just grinds) i have eletrical problems but it was cause turbo was to hot in there and alternator serge killing battery and part of harness. i havent had any coolant problems even with the turbo. but as a stocker daily driver i never had a problem with her. i drove to kansas and back at like 90 plus mph. buy it good luck!

I recently sold my boosted '97 420A Talon. I had it for almost 9 months, boosted for 7 months with T3/T4 on stock internals @ 7psi daily.
Never smoked, leaked, knocked, anything..... I also put 8k miles with setup.
Took it to the track once a month and ran 14.91 w/sucky launch @ 96mph.

I changed the oil (Mobil-1 10W-30) every 2k miles. Tranny began to get rough in second gear, going in. I have an AWD TSi now, but I kinda' miss the 420A, lol. Really.
