You want to find a good lawyer or see what happens in cases. Do this. See what courtroom your case is in. They rotate judges out once a month. Find your judge and go sit in the courtroom one morning. Hear what happens to the cases with lawyers and without lawyers with your judge. Then make your own judgement call. I can tell you this, I have seen alot of cases on DUI while sitting in the courtroom for my speeding tickets. It all depends on the judge. You want to lighten the blow for yourself. Enroll in AA classes now. The judges will asign that shit! And people wait till the last minute. They have a 2 month waiting list in most cases just for people like that. So they have to go back in front of the judge and say that they have not completed the classes yet. You ever want to piss a judge off.... that is a good way to start.
Next, do some community service somewhere... Goodwill centers, SPCA. Does not always work but it is a way of showing that you are sorry for what you have done and trying to give back to the community in what ways that you can. You need to get that documented as well. Just have the people sign something for you. They usually have some type of paper that proves you have done it. I would do about 20 hours worth and take it in the court with me.
I hope you have a good reason for driving drunk and not just because you didnt want to leave your car at your friends house or at the bar.
Last, You better kiss that judges ass. You can ask for it to be reduced because you dont want to lose your job (which is true in most cases). You need to be saying "Yes sir, No sir". You need to apologize alot. Also ask the officer why he pulled you. If you were all over the road... then you are fucked. If he pulled you for exhaust and seen you were intoxicated. You have a better chance.

That would be a good way to start. You can possibly throw a I dont want to lose my job and/or my license. but I wouldn't harp on that. Judges tend to throw the "you should have thought about that before you did it." line.

I can say that I have never drove drunk in my life. My first girlfriend was killed by a drunk driver and that is the type of shit that sticks with you.

In one hand I want to help out a fellow american and in the other I hope that you get enough punishment that you get the message. Most people dont. For the next 7 years you will not be able to get a good job though. I can tell you that. When they say they are going to look at your license. You might as well walk away. I have no respect for drunk drivers. For everybody that thinks any moving violation is kinda the same. Racing is kinda like a drug itself but there are places I can do it legally. There is nowhere you can legally drink and drive. Drag racing down an empty road at 3am is not nearly as stupid as driving your car intoxicated from a bar at 2am with your impared judgement when the rest of the bar is doing the exact same thing. 50 people leaving drunk in their cars. Or 2 people racing down the interstate. Atleast racing is fun. Driving drunk is just driving drunk. I get a ticket racing. I can say "I got a ticket kicked that Honda's ass!!!"
