why wont it rev passed 5500 rpm..
i might buy this civic but it wont rev passed 5500 rpm. why? and the computer throws a code for vtec but not wired up. blah blah. any help?

are you reving it in neutral or while in gear?
Some cars have a limiter while in neutral, but in gear, they can redline.

The VTEC code is because VTEC isn't hooked up. That's the fault it's detecting. I'm assuming that's what's making it limit to 5500 RPM, because above that is where VTEC would engage. All you should need is the right ECU for that engine.
