ok i just picked up a 84 e30 with a m3 swap...

i bought another shell to put the motor in because the 84 is beat to death...

plus i got a 91 so it has the plastic bumpers....

now for those that dont know...i do body/paint for a living...not turbo shit...so im kinda retarded when it comes to it...

ok i want to turbo this car...its tight as shit around the exhaust manifolds ...so i dont think it will fit in there....

my qusetion is this...should i do a rear mount turbo and is it worth while to run an intercooler..or will it be fine being rear mounted???

or is there actually room to mount it normally under the hood????

and also anybody want to swap motors and fabricate the turbo manifold and run/plumb everything for a paint job???

Which S50 is this? Is it the US-spec S50B30 that came in '95 M3s? Or is it an S52 from 96+ U.S. M3s?




Or is it the Euro S50B32 with individual throttle bodies that came in Euro E36 M3s?








As far as fitment, you SHOULD be able to cram a turbo in there, it'll have to be top-mounted though, and I'm sure you'll have to fuck with a bunch of shit in the engine bay to squeeze it all in.

People have swapped E30s over to the S38 engine out of my car, the E34 M5 (), which are a little bigger than S50s, and done pretty big single turbo setups.

Search around the net for any other S50 turbo E30s, see what other people have done. I'm sure there are a few out there.

thats the e36 m3 motor...... like the one i have..... but i have a blue m3..... 2 doors.....

theres a few top mount turbo manifolds.... as well as one bad ass low mount turbo manifold.... the low mounts the best imo it gives an almost straight shot the rear of the car for the downpipe...

if you use an internal wastegate turbo it make everything even more simple...

your looking at about 500 for a good manifold... the ebay ones actually work from what ive read but.... yeah.

different companies make great bottom and top mount versions for those cars, go to www.bimmerforums.com and find nickDanger and ask his brother where to find things. cause he was building a e30 s50 turbo. he will tell you the best way of going size of turbo, and things you might be looking for if you want internal or external wastegate
