Hmmm, well it could be an exhaust leak, like the video you gave a link to, that was obviously a bad exhaust leak lol..

If the leak is bad enough it might cause running problems. i remember you were talking about re-doing the exhaust/downpipe, did you try to do this yet? Just seeing if you might have created a leak

Sounds like you either dropped a valve, or spun a rod bearing. My buick did the same thing when the motor blew. You COULD have been one of the many that have just experienced crank walk and the bottom end is toast. Swapping the motor in sa DSM is like swapping a motor in pretty much any other car: disconnect axles, unplug sensors, remove exhaust, remove piping, support motor w/ cherry picker, unbolt motor mounts, pull motor.

I wouldn't jump to conclusions so fast, I thought I had rod/main bearing knock one time, but it ended up being valve lash was WAY out of spec on one of my rocker arms. Adjusted all valves and it was good to go. It was rather loud too..

No, just take off o2 housing and disconnect downpipe from it, i dunno about clearance so it might be easier to just take the downpipe off.

Check timing belt first, possibly jump teeth....i've had the problem before. But if it jumped alot your looking at some headwork.
