brazing

Default brazing

does anyone know of a shop that can do some brazing? im trying to have my manifold(cast iron) brazed to mild steel for a wastegate flange...

i've had this done before and it didn't turn out so well...wastegate flange fell off in less than a year. Now i have a section of the manifold welded flat with cast iron and tapped for the wastegate. It works great.

It might very well be cheaper to get an ebay manifold and set aside some cash to repair the cracks that will occur than finding someone that can do brazing.

However, I'm only speculating due to the lack of reponse from the forums and my lack of knowledge of who does that kind of work.

well i finally found a place that can braze thats closer than i thought... i called up RJ and he directed me to Horace who moved next to stock or modified... i though he only fixed rims but apparently he can braze which makes me happy....

You should NEVER braze an exhaust, especially on a turbo engine. The brazing material is copper and that has a low melting point. Cast iron can be TIG welded with not problems, I do it all the time on rotary engines.
