Getting a lift done
agreed. anything above a three inch lift you will have to do way more modification, even with a 3 inch or under some things could cause a problem. since you have already mentioned that you ave an automatic, i would suggest a tranny cooler (cant recall if yotas have em stock) and maybe upgrading your brakes since these two things will have to work a lot harder to move the larger rolling mass.
Some of you guys are really suggesting a 3" body lift and call it a day? What the hell is the point of that?
If you're going to do it, do it right. Decide what you're going to use the vehicle for and shop for a lift that you think will best suit your needs. I'm pretty new to this as well, but I can't imagine ever being happy with a 3" body lift.... and that's it.

a three inch body lift is rather economical and its a decent idea. this way there is pretty much zero modification to the suspension and drivetrain. you can stuff larger tires under the vehicle and have much better articulation since your body is up high and therefor giving better clearance. plus some of have champagne taste on a beer wallet. another idea for on the cheap, lift blocks for the rear leafs and coli spacers upfront.

It literally does nothing for performance, probably hurts if anything. Just helps fit bigger tires.
He still hasn't said what he wants to do with the truck has he? I'm not making any suggestions until he says what he wants to do with it.
I'm thinking what he mean by that was not only does it give you more clearance for a larger tire it also gives you body to tire clearance. Meaning " articulation " not Flex. I'm thinking he meant it lets the suspension go through its full stock travel. At which larger tires with no lift will limit the travel until its fender meets tire time. I don't think that he meant that it seriously helps in
" articulation " meaning better suspension flex. Not trying to talk for anyone but that's what I got out of it.
Also I agree that if this is going to be a mud truck with 33s why not BodyLift it. Cheap and easy. Later on if you wanna change it you can do so simple enough. If your wanting to do anything that you need Articulation of any kind your going to be much happier with a suspension lift IMO.

bingo! thank you for backing that up. thats exactly what i meant, with a body lift the tires have enough room to allow the stock suspension to articulate through its full range of travel. you can improve articulation by obviously adding a suspension lift but then we also start talking about more money.
The last time the OP posted in this thread was 4-16-09. I think we are wasting our breath on this guy right now.
