couldnt find a specific wire from the harness. but there was a part of the harness that was bolted to the firewall. looked more like a small bracket than a ground. could this be what your talking about?

got it started today. switched out the distributor and wires with the one from the old motor and she started right up. idk what was wrong with the other one it seemed to be workin fine.
